
Kelton Shockey
Kelton is a Senior Commercial Counsel at General Legal, where he focuses on technology transactions, data privacy, and AI governance. He brings nine years of in-house and founder-side experience: as International Regulatory and Product Counsel at Verizon, supporting product launches and enterprise transactions across 34 markets in the Americas; as a manager in Deloitte's global privacy practice, running data protection assessments across more than 150 jurisdictions; as technology policy and IP counsel at CableLabs; and as founder, CEO, and General Counsel of an NSF-funded digital health company, where he built the legal and compliance function from the ground up. Most recently he served as product counsel to a global enterprise technology company, leading its product legal team's AI matters. Admitted in Colorado, Kelton received his J.D. from the University of Colorado Law School, where he was Managing Editor of the Colorado Technology Law Journal. He is a USPTO-registered patent attorney and holds the CIPP/E credential, with the AIGP in progress, and he designs and operates production AI systems himself, which shapes how he advises the companies building with them.
